Fortuna International personnel during working-at-height safety training in Batumi, Georgia

Fortuna International Invests in Safer Maritime Operations Through Specialist Training

Fortuna International Ltd. continues to invest in the professional development of its personnel, with a strong focus on occupational safety, practical skills and safe working practices in the maritime industry.

As part of this ongoing commitment, the company’s personnel participated in specialised working-at-height training in Batumi, Georgia. The training focused on practical techniques for working safely at height in shipboard environments, where steel structures, restricted access and challenging working conditions require a high level of competence and strict compliance with safety procedures.

All practical exercises were conducted on a metal structure designed to replicate the working conditions inside a ship’s cargo hold. This environment allowed participants to practise essential techniques relevant to maritime maintenance, inspections and other operations involving work at height.

The programme included direct vertical descents, pendulum descents, and movement along vertical ladders and access ladders while using appropriate fall-protection equipment. These exercises helped personnel develop their ability to move safely, maintain secure positioning and apply the correct techniques when working at height.

A key part of the training was dedicated to the requirements for safe working at height and the correct use of personal protective equipment. Participants practised the proper installation and arrangement of safety ropes, the organisation of rope systems and the use of fall-protection equipment in different working scenarios.

Particular attention was given to selecting and securing appropriate anchor points, checking equipment before use, maintaining reliable protection throughout each operation and following established safety procedures.

For Fortuna International, professional training is an integral part of maintaining high standards across its maritime services. Regular practical training helps personnel strengthen their technical capabilities, improve their understanding of workplace hazards and apply established safety procedures with greater confidence.

By continuing to develop its team’s skills and reinforce a safety-first approach, Fortuna International Ltd. demonstrates its commitment to responsible operations, professional competence and the protection of personnel during maritime work.

Safety, competence and continuous improvement remain essential elements of Fortuna International’s approach to professional development.
