Grabs discharge bulk cargo from a vessel to barges at sea

The Flawless Performance of Fortuna International Crane Operators

Fortuna International supports efficient ship-to-barge cargo operations through skilled crane operators, reliable operational procedures and effective coordination at anchorage. Successful bulk cargo discharge depends on many factors, but the performance of vessel crane operators remains one of the key elements of an efficient operation.

In September 2026, Fortuna International successfully carried out a series of large-scale coal and iron ore discharge operations at anchorage. Cargo was transferred directly from vessel holds to barges using vessel cranes.

More Than 174,000 Tonnes of Cargo Handled.

The operations handled more than 174,000 tonnes of cargo and demonstrated the coordination, precision and expertise required to keep discharge efficient at anchorage.

The Flawless Performance of Crane Operators

The technical capabilities of vessel cranes are only one part of a successful cargo operation. The experience, precision and responsibility of crane operators are equally important.

Throughout the operations, Fortuna International crane operators maintained precise control of the cargo-handling equipment and adapted efficiently to changing working conditions.

Ship-to-barge discharge at anchorage requires close attention to barge positioning and availability, weather conditions and the coordination of each stage. Experienced operators must remain ready and use available working time effectively to keep cargo handling smooth and efficient.

Efficient cargo handling also depends on close cooperation between crane operators, the vessel’s deck team and everyone involved. When barges were temporarily unavailable, the teams remained ready to resume as soon as conditions allowed, helping avoid unnecessary delays.

Fortuna International – Professional Support for Vessel Operations

Handling more than 174,000 tonnes of coal and iron ore demonstrates the value of experienced personnel, reliable equipment and effective operational coordination.

At Fortuna International, we recognise that successful cargo operations depend on people who combine technical expertise with precision, responsibility and practical experience.

The performance of our crane operators is an essential part of our commitment to safe, efficient and reliable vessel operations.
